Reflecting on the Winter 2009 Ceremonies
by Steve Pego

Boozhoo, Chi Anishinaabe Ndizhnikaaz (also known as Steve Pego.)

A historical event has taken place here in Mt. Pleasant to restore our culture, traditions, and our sacred language; one that hasn’t happened in 100 years!

As a Midewiwin of the Three Fires Lodge, and a member of the Ogitchidaw Society, I would like to say miigwetch to the Mt Pleasant Midewiwin and committee members for all their hard work in planning for the recent winter ceremonies.

There are many who have helped make this event one of the best ever. I’m proud of the community and the people who work here.

Miigwetch first of all to the Tribal Council for making the funding possible, and sending the representatives to one of the sessions. Miigwetch to Seventh Generation Men’s group, the Saginaw Chippewa Ogitchidaw Society, the Aabizakaawin students & teachers, who helped with lodge construction, the Soaring Eagle and Resort, Grounds Maintenance, Tribal Maintenanc
